Glimmerglass 2016Writing and Singing - Singing and Writing: August at Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, New York found Patrice performing three of her songs from The Long View, A Portrait Of Ruth Bader Ginsburg In Song.  Pianist/coach Sahar Nouri shared the stage with Patrice, Glimmerglass Young Artists and Notorious RBG herself, who gave her 4th annual presentation on Opera And The Law for a sold-out house.  Filming for an upcoming CNN documentary included interviews and informal chat with members of the ensemble and RBG, and a really good time was had by all! Critical Acclaim

"[Patrice Michaels'] instrument is beautifully shaped, balanced, and focused . . . Her intonation is near perfect and her diction crystal clear. I find her a major talent for interpretation of American vocal music." (Fanfare)

"Nothing short of spectacular . . . Soprano Patrice Michaels lifts the performance to a higher realm." (Cleveland Plain Dealer)

"Ms. [Michaels] voice has the same crystalline clarity, buoyancy, and colorful vibrato as Dawn Upshaw's." (American Record Guide)

"Not only is Michaels a fine soprano with a bell-like sonority...but she's got sophisticated taste in music. Hers is the best rendition of Britten's "Les Illuminations" since Heather Harper 40 years ago. And Michaels' impeccable French is better.... Witty, adult and smart." (San Francisco Examiner)

"a formidable interpretative talent" (The New Yorker)

"a supple voice with the ring of Waterford crystal, and seems to be able to sing anything effortlessly" (Chicago Tribune)

"her agile singing was full of sparkle" (Atlanta Journal)

"a marvelously clear voice" (Saint Louis Post-Dispatch)

"continually drew the eye and ear" (Opera News)

"persuasive as an interpreter, her voice always at the service of the music" (Fanfare)

"Technically she wants for nothing and is especially impressive tossing off difficult trills and other ornaments. The voice itself is quite lovely, delightfully sweet and pure. Moreover, it's identifiable." (American Record Guide)

"...the most pinpoint accurate and unflustered account of "Exsultate, jubilate" your reviewer has ever heard. All the notes were there, as on-time and in-tune as you'd hear them from a keyboard. And yet the feeling of it was bravura enough to set the audience to cheering at the end." (Boston Globe)

"vocally winning" (Cleveland Plain Dealer)

"security of technique and radiant beauty of tone" (Chicago Tribune)

"lyric purity of tone" (San Antonio Times)

"like a ray of light, and so it remained all evening: pure, clear, and sharply focused" (Saint Paul Pioneer-Press)

"relaxed and silvery" (Chicago Sun-Times)

"extraordinary richness and beauty...she filled each note to the brim with nuance...{and} sang as if in a state of grace" (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel)

" of the most original, innovative and adventurous recordings to come along in quite some time!" —Fanfare
